Beacon Blocker asks users about their goals, responsibilities, useful
interests, essential destinations, schedule, and accessibility needs. It turns
that context into a versioned set of rules rather than asking the user to
maintain named presets.

## How it works

1. The user completes a guided onboarding conversation and can revise their
   context later.
2. Beacon compiles confirmed context and explicit choices into rules that run
   locally in the browser.
3. Surface rules can suppress recommendation feeds, Shorts, reels, autoplay,
   and similar ranked surfaces without blocking an entire destination.
4. A deliberate search, direct link, message, selected video, or embedded item
   supplies short-lived intent context so the requested content can remain
   reachable without reopening unrelated feeds.
5. When local rules cannot decide a page and AI-assisted checks are enabled,
   limited page context may be processed for a real-time allow/block decision.
   The result is cached locally for a bounded period.

AI output is validated and passed through deterministic policy rules before it
is delivered to the extension. AI results can still be imperfect; Beacon is a
productivity tool, not a parental-control, security, or emergency service.

## Plans

- **Free:** No payment details required. Includes local compiled rules, up to
  10 rule-compilation provider calls per UTC day, and—only if the user enables
  it—up to 10 optional per-page AI decisions per UTC day.
- **Pro:** Optional monthly subscription. Raises each of those two independent
  daily allowances to 250 and includes a Contact for early unlock requests,
  bounded indefinite Strict Mode, and additional insight features.
- Current price and included features are shown in the dashboard before
  checkout. Stripe processes payments; Beacon does not store card or bank
  details.

There is no automatic trial attached to account creation.

## Privacy and retention

- Visible page snippets are used only for local deterministic matching and are
  not sent to Beacon's backend or AI model.
- Page URLs, titles, search text, and descriptions used for a remote decision
  are not written to Beacon's application database or analytics.
- Detailed browsing history and decision caches stay in the browser.
- Local browsing-time and YouTube watch-time analytics are off by default.
  Enabling them stores active time, watch time, local events, and a resume
  marker only in the extension. Turning them off stops new records; erasing
  existing records is a separate action. Those analytics expire within 90
  days and are not sent to Beacon's server or AI model.
- Optional domain-level activity collection is off by default. When enabled,
  raw activity and engagement events are retained for at most 7 days. Turning
  collection off deletes that data and stored weekly summaries immediately.
- Personal weekly summaries are retained for at most 13 weeks.
- Per-account daily AI allowance counters contain no page information and are
  retained for at most 7 days.
- Product feedback is retained for at most 180 days.
- Daily operational totals contain no account, email, IP address, URL, domain,
  or title and are retained for at most 90 days.
- Completed or failed Stripe processing records are retained for at most 365
  days; pending work and active billing state are retained while required for
  correctness.
- Confirmed personal context, prompts, Contact details, compiled rules, and
  vault ciphertext are encrypted at rest.
- Beacon does not sell personal data or use third-party advertising or
  behavioral analytics.
